Imagine NB: Empowering Young Leaders

About

A 2-year bilingual program designed to inspire and engage 20 immigrant youth (ages 15-17) who have demonstrated a capacity for leadership within their school and broader community and the potential to become driving forces in New Brunswick’s future.
This program is made possible through the partnership with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and funding from the the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

Why

Communities across the province are becoming more diverse and youth interactions are becoming richer, more dynamic, and multicultural. At the same time however, immigrant youth are not presented with enough opportunities to develop and excel as leaders in New Brunswick, which contributes to youth’s decision to out-migrate taking their talents elsewhere. Visible minorities and immigrants in New Brunswick are still under-represented in leadership positions within the political domain; public service, and in community positions more broadly.

Goals

checkmark
Assist 20 immigrant youth to take their leadership to the next level.

Engage program participants in the local community.

Inspire participants to play key active roles within New Brunswick.

Provide a platform for youth-led projects to emerge.

Accomplishing these objectives will deepen cross-cultural understanding, awareness and dialogue about cultural diversity and inclusion in schools and throughout N.B. Program participants will further learn why N.B. is the perfect place to build their careers and prosper.
Imagine NB believes that focusing and investing in the successful development of immigrant youth is a key component from a provincial-prosperity perspective.
